The Fools On The Hill

At Alexandra Palace for the next couple of days working at the newly-refurbished Theatre, open again after standing derelict for 80 years.

Ally Pally is steeped in TV history – it’s where the BBC broadcast its first TV service from. Television was looked upon as an upstart that wouldn’t catch on, so much so that the people working in the studios here were known as the “fools on the hill.”

The BBC studios are still here, closed and off-limits until funding can be found to restore and reopen them to visitors…
